About Us

Welcome to our website. This website has been created to showcase the continuing effort to raise awareness and try helping various causes within the children’s wards at both Alder Hey and Whiston Hospital.

Our involvement in the causes we are trying to help is due to the awareness created from personal experience. Our son, Alfie Flynn Mullen, was born 16 weeks premature and weighed only 1lb 9oz. Alfie spent the time he was with us in-between St Marys ICU, Whiston Hospital and Alder Hey. Whilst between these hospitals we experienced first-hand the struggles that children, parents and hospitals face on a daily basis. Kilimanjaro

On 3rd February 2012

After weeks of training/dieting, we are now at the end of our countdown to our biggest/most ambitious fund raising event yet. We head to Kilimanjaro 02/02/2012 to take on the Rongai Route, which is a 10 day trek that we anticipating to be both mentally and physically draining with the added bonus of high temperatures, wild animals and altitude to contend with!!! We are doing this to help contribute towards the years fundraising for a new transport pod for babies/children at Whiston Hospital – with that in mind, we are hoping it will spur us on and inspire us to complete this daunting task.

3 Peak Challenge

On 13th August 2011

We will take on the 24 hour 3 Peak Challenge, starting at Ben Nevis North of the Border, then onto Scafell Pike in the Lakes and finishing off with mighty Snowdon in North Wales. Jay & Eric cracked Snowdon on Sunday 12th June as our first bit of training and were battered by the elements en route and soaked to the skin at the end! Confirmed for this event so far are: Jason & Rio Mullen, Eric Ireland, Nick Sparks, Andy Smith, Del Niloban, Simon Haste & Alan Merton.

18th February 2012

It is now confirmed that we will be going to Kilimanjaro 18th February 2012 to complete the Rongai route. There will be 6 of us making the trek over a 10 day period. The people taking part are Jason Mullen, Keith Mullen, Nicolas Sparks, Andrew Smith, Darren Pugh and Dave Pugh. We will be doing a daily blog on our trip so please keep an eye out to keep up-to-date on our progress.

2012 Tough Guy Challenge

Congratulations to Andy Smith who completed the 2012 Tough Guy Challenge on Sunday 29th January 2012. The challenge itself was an 8 mile assault course through mud, trenches, various apparatus and also cattle prods at one point!!! All funds raised are going towards our yearly total for a new transport pod for babies/children at Whiston Hospital. Thank you Andy!!!!!!!

Charity Night 2011

On 17th September 2011 we held our annual charity night at the Marquee Suite within the Stobart Stadium, Widnes. Attended by over 350 people including the Mayor of Widnes we held various events such as a charity raffle & charity auction and we had a couple of live acts perform, local band the Odds and local comedian Max Pressure.

Charity Night at Stobart Stadium

Charity night for 300 people at Stobart stadium with local comedian Frankie Allen and fantastic local band “The Doylers” which raised over £9,600 organised by Jason Mullen, Eric Ireland and Nicky Sparks. A big thanks to all that attended, all friends and family who helped to organise and all staff at Stobart Stadium for making our night an overwhelming success.
